JAMES
Nairobi
Married, Two children
P-5
I am James, currently working as a Senior Humanitarian Officer-P-5, step III in Nairobi. This is my fifth assignment. My young twin daughters who are enrolled at the International School of Kenya as well as my wife, who is the primary caretaker of our children, are also with me. I was worried about potential cuts in my compensation package and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I will not see any changes in my salary with the new spouse allowance. However, I will have a reduction of about $75 per month in my mobility allowance. Under the new education grant scheme, I will be paying for school transportation, though a higher portion of our tuition will be reimbursed, and as a result, my out of pocket expenses will go down by about $10,000 per year.
